Greetings Twin Cities Illini,
Our next volunteer service project will be on Sat. Feb. 4 from 9 am to noon at Bridging, 201 W. 87th St. in Bloomington (www.bridging.org). There's no Illini men's basketball game that day, thus no intra-Illini conflict!
Bridging provides families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty with quality furniture and household items by effectively utilizing community resources. You can make a world of difference by helping someone establish a new home and a better life. Each year Bridging benefits over 13,000 individuals who are given a sense of dignity and stability as they rebuild their lives.
We will provide general warehouse assistance, loading/unloading of trucks, stocking shelves, and/or sorting through donated household goods and linens. The specific work we will perform will be determined a few days before our visit based on the facility's needs and our finalized group size.
We want to have at least 10 volunteers for this event. Friends as well as family members at least 15 years of age are welcome to join us.
Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that is OK to get a little dusty or dirty.
It's entirely optional but always encouraged to bring item donations on the day of the event or at any time that Bridging accepts donations. You can donate furniture of all kinds for the bedroom, living room, and dining room; small appliances and lamps; and all the essential housewares and linens of setting up a home.
